Anneka Fris

Anneka is currently an Animation Sequence Supervisor on Avatar 2. She was recently Animation Supervisor for Director Roseanne Liang’s action horror Shadow in the Cloud, in which Chloë Grace Moretz plays the film’s protagonist.

Recent projects include Senior Animator on Lady and the Tramp (2019) and Gemini Man (2019). As Lead Animator on Alita: Battle Angel (2019), winner of a VES Award for Outstanding Character Animation, Anneka played a significant role in creating CG Alita’s nuanced facial and body performance as well as the highly creative keyframed Motorball chase sequence. She was Senior Animator on the VES Award-winning simulated ride Avatar: Flight of Passage (2017), working with the team to fill Pandora’s lush landscapes with thousands of photoreal creatures produced in 10K 60fps stereo.

Anneka honed her skills in creature character development as an Animator on significant keyframe shots for Pete’s Dragon (2016) and also on Oscar-nominated Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) where she contributed to creating Koba’s emotional complexity. Early roles also include animation for The Hobbit trilogy, The Avengers (2012) and The Adventures of Tintin (2011).

Anneka has a keen interest in animals and nature and, beyond her work at Weta, she volunteers in conservation.
