Visual Effects Supervisor
He started at Wētā FX in 1994 and has worked on iconic projects including Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners and The Lord of The Rings trilogy, before working on James Cameron’s Avatar and Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin and The BFG.
In 2018 he led Wētā FX’s visual effects work on Game of Thrones; Season 7 (ep: Beyond the Wall), which earned him a Creative Arts Emmy® for Outstanding Visual Effects.
Wayne was most recently VFX Supervisor on HBO’s House of the Dragon which earned him an Emmy nomination and before that on the Apple TV+ show Masters of the Air.
Wayne spent several years on Avatar: The Way of Water, where he led Wētā’s work on the jungle scenes. Prior to this, he was the VFX Supervisor on the Apple TV+ series Invasion, designing and animating a unique ferrofluid-like alien that tesseracts as it moves.
In addition to supervising shot work, Wayne is a key player in new technologies and Wētā FX’s overall pipeline. Notably, he helped develop the lighting and rendering pipeline that was used throughout Avatar.
Wayne is an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and has been nominated for a BAFTA and numerous Visual Effects Society awards.
