Emma Ferguson

In addition to compliance and risk management, Emma also manages the company's IP and looks after business operations across all international jurisdictions.

Overseeing contract negotiations with Wētā’s technology partners and studio clients, Emma plays a pivotal role in managing key external relationships and driving future collaborative opportunities for the company in the VFX technology and innovation space. 

Emma has extensive international experience and has always had a passion for the media, sport and entertainment industries, starting her career at AEFH Talent Agency in Los Angeles.

From there, Emma moved to London in 2011 to work in the Business Affairs team at European Tour Productions within IMG, part of the Endeavour Group. She then transitioned to Media Lawyer from 2013 to 2018, providing commercial legal advice to the IMG media teams. Her time at IMG was a particular career highlight as she worked across several global sports properties including European Tour, Wimbledon, The Open and the Rugby World Cup.

Moving back to New Zealand, Emma more recently worked at global radio communications company, Tait Communications, as their Senior In-house Counsel. Emma joined the Wētā FX team in January 2022 as our Legal and Compliance Attorney, before taking this appointment in the leadership team.
