We have been fortunate enough to work on the trilogy from the outset, and have seen Caesar evolve from a lab chimp born in captivity, to a revolutionary leader, to a mythical figure.
We advanced our VFX and performance capture techniques to facilitate every part of the film — from vast digital environments featuring thousands of digital characters, down to the smallest details in each of the ape characters, like the way snow catches in their fur.
Our team created more than 1400 VFX shots working under Senior Visual Effects Supervisor Joe Letteri and Visual Effects Supervisor Dan Lemmon.
Nearly seven years have passed since we completed Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Working on all three films gave us the opportunity to advance not only our robust and all-weather performance capture system, but also the technology and artistry that made Caesar and his apes seem so real. To achieve the required level of realism, we improved our rendering technology, fur systems, forest growth software, and environmental simulations.
All of these elements have contributed to a film that is deeply convincing and a stunning finale to the much-loved trilogy.
