Weta Digital VFX Supervisor Dan Lemmon was in London to receive the award, representing our team of 400 people who worked on the film.
Almost everything in The Jungle Book other than Mowgli is digital. In addition to the creation of King Louie, Weta Digital’s work featured character animation and crowd simulation for Louie’s tribe of monkey minions. We also created and destroyed the monkey temple and its surrounding jungle environment in the dramatic ‘Mowgli Rescue’ sequence.
Dan Lemmon said in his acceptance speech “I want to thank my team at Weta Digital back in New Zealand. They are very talented and without them we couldn’t be here today”. Weta Digital couldn’t be more proud of our artists and technicians who were instrumental in achieving this recognition.
