Our offices are established in the heart of New Zealand’s film industry in a small coastal suburb on the Miramar Peninsula and we are surrounded by a pristine coastline and expanses of native bush. Miramar translates to “sea view” in Spanish, and its Māori name ‘Te Motu Kairangi’ means "esteemed" or "precious" island. It is aptly named with the coastal scenery being a integral part of the peninsula and a recreational hot spot. We are committed to taking part in its stewardship in a hands-on way.
Sustainable Coastlines is a charity doing incredible work to support the well-being of our local environment and we are proud to support the organization’s ‘Love Your Coast Programme’. Our annual clean-up is open to the public and provides a fun family day for Weta Digital crew and the wider community.
We were blessed with great weather for our 2017 event. Guided by the experts from Sustainable Coastlines, the team spread out through Evan’s Bay and Scorching Bay and scoured the shores. Then everybody reconvened at Scorching Bay and were treated to burritos by the Burrito King, live music by Miles Calder and games on the beach.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our friends at Sustainable Coastlines and the hardworking team who rolled up their sleeves and supported the event. It was fantastic to see family members of all ages get out and enjoy the beach while contributing to this very worthy initiative.
