Working with Ridley Scott on a project with direct links to his infamous 1979 film Alien was a dream come true for many of Weta Digital's crew. Weta Digital produced a range of shots for Prometheus. These shots include the reveal of Giger’s iconic entity, the ‘Space Jockey’; the opening sequence of an engineer’s ritualistic suicide; the disturbing med-pod sequences, and the concluding Trilobite attack. Weta Digital employed their vast VFX toolbox to create believable close-ups of the iconic characters and creatures, including advanced sub-surface scattering techniques used for the realistic skin.
